There are many different positions for ears in young pups.  Some stand earlier than others.  Some go up & back down :-)   Some form a cone.  When the pups begin getting their adult teeth, the ears may flop again, making many owners worried.  We give yogurt & cottage cheese for added Calcium, and lots of chew bones to strengthen the ear muscles at this time.Red Girl 12 weeksRed Girl 12 weeks

One ear up & one to go!!!!

Count Orlok having fun with his daughter.  He is very gentle with her, but she beats him up a little :-)   Playing with other dogs is very important when socializing a puppy….just make sure you know the dog and it’s temperament before allowing a puppy to jump on it and play.More photos in Gallery Album :-) Nah-Nah! you can't get me Dad!!

Puppies need to be introduced to many sights, sounds, people and places at a young age.  The 8 to 12 week period is very important, and we always make sure our pups get out into the world to experience everything they can at this age and beyond.  Socializing does NOT stop at 12 weeks, and we recommend Puppy Kindergarten as a way of allowing the pups to play with other dogs in their age group.  We do not recommend Dog Parks, especially at a young age. Many times there are dogs present who may harm a puppy or other adult dog, and it is much safer to allow your pup to haveThere were people everywhere! This store is fun! I tried to help all the workers supervised  play time with dogs you know. Here are some photos of a Zora/Orlok puppy being socialized here by the whole family. Try to give your puppy at least one new experience a day :-) Puppy's first time walking over manhole coverPup resting with Pap at his houseHere's MY food Dad!Puppy found the bones! My new friend who is a German Shepherd owner!

I wanted to share this email I received today….THIS is what all the hard work is for….Thanks for making my day, Denny & Salome’!

“Bonnie, Your dogs are the greatest. Recently all 3 of our dogs were in the yard and our 10 yr old Lab. did not want to be bothered with Dietrich wanting to play with her,she let out a very low toned growl and Zarin sensed that she did not want to be bothered, very quickly Zarin ran over and got Dietrich’s attention and sort of herded him away from the Lab. and started to play with him.It was like Zarin knew what to do in an instant. Dietrich has adapted to his new home in 1 week and I think that He Loves Us As Much As We Love Him.Thank You Again For Letting Us Have The Pleasure Of  Owning Another Of Your Well Bred German Shepherd Dogs. The pups will be leaving soon…….they had a great time outside today with Mom & Dad.  They got to watch the school buses, some noisy trucks, and even a helicopter.  In the Summer months, our pups get to see dirt bikes and tractors, but exposing them to any strange object is what socializing is all about!  We found Daddy's water bucket! We can almost SWIM in it!We found Daddy’s water bucket!Mommy!!!SEE MORE PHOTO’S IN GALLERY ALBUM………………………………..>>>>>

The pups had their first Vet visit today, at 7 weeks old.

They did very well, and were kissing everyone :-)   The vet was very impressed with them, and they are already between 15 & 16.8 lbs!!!!

Here they are today, we got home and they wanted to stay in the SWEET van that their human Mom owns :-)   I told the Vet that I fit all of the pups in my Ferrari……………well, I did, but it’s my large crate I keep in the van, and it’s a FURRARI brand……hey, a girl can dream, huh?7 week vet trip!

The weather was beautiful Saturday, so I wanted to see what the pups thought of the outdoors….they had a ball! The pups are very confident even in new situations.  They are not shy at all.  This is how a German Shepherd SHOULD be!
