"Alright, everybody outta the pool!"
Zora would not take her eyes off Yo-Yo

I am asked this question quite often.  In my own words, let me explain what I breed and why.  There are major differences in the bloodlines available today.  I have owned and bred both European and American bloodlines, and I prefer the German bloodlines, originally bred for herding and protection. I also prefer not to speak negatively about other breeders.  I have recently had phone calls asking me if I am breeding “smaller, German bloodlines….”  This statement is ridiculous, but some uninformed people actually believe the German/European lines are smaller dogs, or meaner dogs, or too high strung, etc….etc….. I breed for temperament, health, character, trainability, etc.  My goal is to retain the working ability of the German Shepherd Dog.  Herding, Obedience, Schutzhund, Agility, Family Protection, Couch warming……these are all important aspects of the breed.  This does not mean you must participate in the above sports, but the dog should be able to perform any task you ask of it.  Please email us at vonadlerhof@hotmail.com  or call 724 643-0665 for more info on our wonderful dogs, and don’t believe the rumors you may hear about size, etc…….Quality speaks for itself, and seeing is believing….Come meet & play with our dogs…..no explanation required.

I got a call last week from Zarin’s owners. They wanted to apologize to me for thinking their female they got from me was “too nice.” They wondered if she would protect them in a bad situation. I told them “There’s no doubt in my mind……trust me!” “I don’t breed weak, fearful temperaments,” I told them. An intruder stood on their air conditioning unit under their bedroom window, when nobody was home. They tried to pry at the window. Zarin appeared, ripping the blind out of the window, and tearing the screen out. She was there to prove that these intruders had better change their plans. The window had drool all over the glass. I am certain that the idiots quickly left, or Zarin may have gone through the window. THAT’S MY GIRL!
